Elvington
Living in Elvington
Elvington combines the best of urban and rural living. Conveniently located just 7 miles south east of the thriving city of York. The river Derwent forms part of the parish boundary and an ancient stone bridge links Elvington with Sutton on Derwent.
In the village there is Elvington Hall, built during Elizabethan times, a church, post office, shops, primary school, medical practice and sports field. There are a number of organised clubs operating in the village including drama, Scouts and a playgroup.
Elvington is well known for its air museum which lies on what was originally the airfield of RAF Elvington. Every year the village plays host to a popular air show and a number of other events take place both at the museum and on the airfield, including sports activities and driving. In fact the airfield was the site of Top Gear's Richard Hammond miraculous high speed crash.
Conveniently located for easy access to shopping and leisure facilities at Monks Cross, Clifton Moor and The Designer Outlet, Fulford. Elvington is also close to the A64 leading to all the major road networks in the area.
